This page contains resources and information for participants who are running in the 2020 race on October 3rd.
Ultra runners — Please read the following update carefully as it contains important information regarding the route.
Please note all maps and GPS files have now been updated to reflect the changes below.
Following a change in policy at the National Trust, events of over 30 people are no longer permitted on their land.
The original 50km route included a loop around the National Trust's Ashridge Estate, we will no longer be doing this.
The route between Checkpoint 1 & 2 (Musette Cafe) will now be an out and back to Ivinghoe Beacon.
This is the same 6.6km section from the original route, however upon reaching the Beacon you will turn around (with help from a marshal) and run back the way you came.
Where this section follows the Ridgeway National Trail (indicated in purple below) it will not be marked with Runaway signs, instead you will follow the official Ridgeway signage (example sign), these are very clearly marked throughout. The remainder of the route will still be marked with our signage.
This arrangement keeps the National Trust happy and allows us to continue with the run.
This change had reduced the overall distance and therefore we've adapted a section between Checkpoint 3 and Barn Wood to increase the distance back to 50km (see below) - This will be marked clearly with Runaway signage.
The new route distance is exactly 50km, with ~990m elevation gain. The aid stations/checkpoints now fall at 10.8km, 24.1km and 38.3km.
If you would like to discuss these changes then please contact Chris at [email protected].
This event will be going ahead with COVID secure restrictions in place. For more details please click here.
In summary, both races will operate a rolling start — 50km between 0815-0900, half between 0945-1030.
All the essential race information can be accessed in the document linked below.
