Half Marathon

The second The Chiltern Ridge Half Marathon will take place on Saturday May 9th 2019, with a maximum field of 150 runners.

Our half marathon route will combine challenging undulating woodland trails & fast runnable sections, providing a testing but accessible race.

The Chiltern Hills & our event base sit 45 minutes North West of London and form the perfect stage for this event.

Route details

The race starts in Wendover Woods and winds its way through the rugged woodland out onto the historic Ridgeway National Trail. Following this pathway you reach Hastoe Village Hall (7.5km), our first aid station and checkpoint.

Leaving Hastoe your steer South onto the Chiltern Way, the start of a 9km section on through some beautiful countryside. A brief stop at The Old Swan pub for our second aid station will leave you in good condition for the final stretch.

After 16km you will have completed a full loop and find yourself back on the Ridgeway, re-entering Wendover Woods. Here you retrace your footsteps in reverse for the final 4km, dispatching you at the finish with a medal around your neck.

There will be stalls serving coffee, food and local beer at throughout the day until 6pm.

Aid stations

There will be two fully stocked aid stations on route, these are at the approximately - 7.5km, 13.3km.

The aid stations will contain the following:

  • Water
  • Electrolyte drink (tailwind)
  • Coke
  • Fresh fruit
  • Sweets
  • Crisps

There will are toilets at the start/finish and the 7.5km aid station.

We will not be providing bottles, so it is essential you have a refillable bottle or cup with you.

Entry details

Registration to the half marathon is £30 (or £28 to attached runners) and includes the following:

  • Entry to the race
  • Free car parking at event base
  • Unique finishers medal
  • Timing wristband
  • 2 aid stations
  • Medical support
  • Bag drop at event base

T-Shirts

Unique t-shirts will be available to buy closer to the race date.

Transfers

You are welcome to transfer your entry to another runner before April 27th 2020.

Withdrawal

If you withdraw from the race before April 1st you will receive 50% a refund. After this date refunds will not be offered.

Mandatory Kit

The following items are mandatory:

  • Trail running shoes
  • Mobile phone (fully charged at start of race)
  • Refillable Water/hydration system (min 500ml)
  • Windproof jacket
  • Cash (£20)

Please bring a reusable cup if you would like some electrolyte drink from the aid stations.

Prizes

All runners will receive a unique finishers medal.

There will be prizes awarded to the race winners, V40+ category and a team prize (first team to have three finishers).

Getting there

The start/finish and event base is located at:
Hill Farm, Aston Hill, Halton, Aylesbury, HP22 5NQ.

Hill Farm has camping facilities which can be booked via their website.

The event base is a 10 minutes drive from Wendover itself, where there are hotels, B&B's and a train station.

There are a few trains from London that will get you to Wendover in time for the race. Please check the timetable
